West Linn's Cole Madey Wins Sahalee Players Championship

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Cole Madey (West Linn, Ore.), the 2017 Oregon Amateur champion, won the 24th Sahalee Players Championship on Wednesday, July 4 with a birdie on the 18th and final hole. The event, a major among amateur competitions, was held July 2-4 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.

The rising senior at UCLA began Wednesday's final round with a one-shot lead over Australia's Nathan Barbieri, and with his birdie on the last hole, narrowly defeated Barbieri by the same margin.

The field at this year's Sahalee Players Championship included heralded amateur competitors such as ​Cole Hammer, the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball champion; Min Woo Lee, the No. 6 ranked amateur player in the world and 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur champion, and Jeevan Sihota, a 14-year-old two-time winner of the Callaway World Junior Championships.

Past winners of the Sahalee Players Championship include Ryan Moore, Kyle Stanley, Peter Uihlein, Daniel Summerhays and other PGA Tour members.
