Ward & Venderby Set the Pace on Day 1 at Bob Allard Memorial

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The first round of the Portland City Bob Allard Memorial Championship kicked off today as golfers braved another hot afternoon at Rose City Golf Course.

Olivia Venderby (West Linn, OR), fresh off her trip from the Girls Americas Cup, set the pace in the Girls Open Division with an Even Par 73.  Venderby holds a two-shot lead over Alexa Udom (Portland, OR) and Jessica Ponce (Beaverton, OR) going into tomorrow’s final day.

Johnny Ward (Lake Oswego, OR), who also represented Oregon recently in the America’s Cup, opened today’s round with a 2-under 70.  Ward has a one-shot lead over Brody Marconi (Portland, OR) who fired a 1-under 71, which included two eagles on the back nine. Nick Lasko (Clackamas, OR) stands alone in third place with a 1-over 73.

Teams for the 50th playing of the Hogan Cup will be announced following the conclusion of tomorrow's Boys Division.
