Two Tigard Golfers Share the Lead in the Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship

WOODBURN, Ore -- Competitors in the Oregon Jr. Golf Stroke Play enjoyed pristine playing conditions with very little wind this afternoon at the OGA Golf Course.  In the Girls Division, Victoria Gailey (Tigard, Ore) and Tabetha King (Tigard, Ore) hold a one-shot lead after Day 1 following rounds of 1-over 73.  Also in contention are Elli Gordon (Dallas, Ore) with a 2-over 74, Ashley Zhu (Salem, Ore) with a 3-over 75, and Olivia Venderby (West Linn, Ore) who is alone in fifth with a 4-over 76. 

Brandon Eyre (Salem, Ore) holds a 1-stroke lead following Round 1 of the Boys Division following a 3-under 69.  Eyre managed to finish his round without a single bogey on his scorecard.  Tied for second place is Johnny Ward (Lake Oswego, Ore) and Nicholas Watts (Springfield, Ore) who both shot a 2-under 70.  Finishing in a tie for fourth at 1-under was Samir Dutta (Portland, Ore) & Samuel Pyon (Happy Valley, Ore).

To be eligible for the Oregon Jr. Stroke Play Championship Boys must have a handicap index less than 7.0 and Girls must have a handicap index of 14.0 or below. All together 33 and 64 Boys registered for the 3-day Major Championship.  Following the second round there will be a cut for both Boys & Girls leading into the final day on Thursday, July 5th.
