Three OGA Competitors to Play in 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship

ATLANTA AND MILTON, GA. - Three OGA members will compete in this year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship beginning this weekend in Georgia.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.), Eric Fiskum (Salem, Ore.), and Arthur Kim (Tigard, Ore.) all qualified for the 2017 championship at the sectional qualifier held Sept. 11th at Astoria Golf & Country Club in Warrenton, Ore. The championship proper will be held October 7-12 at both the Capital City Club in Atlanta, Ga. and Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton, Ga.

Kim earned medalist honors at the qualifier in September, firing an incredible 9-under par 62, beating the field by seven shots. Fiskum earned the second qualifying spot, while Dahl solidified the third and final berth to the championship by beating five other players in a playoff.

Kim has had an impressive 2017, beginning the season with a win in the OGA Tournament of Champions back in April. He advanced to the quarterfinals of this year’s Oregon Amateur Championship, and also fought his way to the round of 32 at the 2017 PNGA Men’s Amateur. In U.S. Open qualifying, he advanced out of local qualifying to the sectional in the spring of this year.

Fiskum is a former Oregon Mid-Amateur champion (2002) who has won two-straight Capital City Championships. Dahl, a former Seattle University golfer, last played in an OGA event back in 2011, when he advanced to the round of 16 at the 102nd Oregon Amateur Championship.
