Slama, Ronne Take Junior Stroke Play Titles

WOODBURN, Ore. – Ellie Slama (Salem, Ore.) and Craig Ronne (Klamath Falls, Ore.) each own their respective divisions at the 20th Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship played June 27-29 at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.

Slama fired three consecutive rounds under par (68-67-70) to finish with a tournament-best 11-under par. She finished the three-round event with 17 birdies to go with 32 pars to take the Girls 12-18 division.

Victoria Gailey (75-68-75) finished in second place with a 2-over-par 218. She was one stroke better than May Wang who tallied a 3-over 219 (78-70-71).

In the Boys 12-18 division, it was Ronne (66-67-71) who pulled away from the field over the three-day event finishing with a 12-under par 204. Ronne finished with 19 birdies to go with 29 pars in those 54 holes.

Spencer Tibbits (69-71-71=211) and Austin Carnese (75-71-67=213) finished second and third respectively.

The Oregon Junior Golf major tournament schedule resumes next week at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort with the Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur Championship. That event runs July 3-7.
