Results - 2018 Peter Jacobsen Challenge at Trysting Tree
The newly renoveated back-9 at Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore was put to the text by the best youth golfers in Oregon at the 2018 Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge.
Earning medalist honors for the Girls Open Division was Victoria Gailey (Tigard, OR) shooting a 76-71—147 (+5). There was a four-way tie for second place (+8) between Kaylee Wu (Medford, OR), Mary Scott Wolfe (Beaverton, OR), Brady Turnquist (Oregon City, OR), and Jessica Ponce (Beaverton, OR).
The Boys Open Division featured 12 golfers finishing even par or better, all of which were within four shots of the eventual Champion Mateo Fuenmayor (Beaverton, OR) who led the way with a 67-71—138 (-4). Tied for second place 1-shot off the lead was Johnny Ward (Lake Oswego, OR) and Nate Stember (Portland, OR).
In the Intermediate Boys Division, Eli Huntington (Camas, WA) fired a 70-76—146 (+4) to earn a 4-shot victory over second place finisher Alexander Hagen (Eugene, OR).
Medalist honors for the Intermediate Girls Division went to Kyra Ly (Portland, OR) after firing an 80-72—152 (+10). Only one shot behind Ly was Chloe Tarkany (Bend, OR) with an 80-73—153 (+11).
The Pee Wee Boys (age 10-11) division’s winning score came from Lucas Vanderlip (Gold Beach, OR) who shot a 34-38—72 (+2). Included in Vanderlips’s first 9-holes was a stretch of three birdies in a row on holes #5-#7. Jordan Giles (Talent, OR) earned medalist in the Pee Wee (age 8-9) division with a 39-40—79 (+9).
Earning medalist honors for the Pee Wee Girls Division (age 10-11) was Natalie Yen (West Linn, OR) after shooting a 36-37—73 (+3).
The next Major Championship on the Junior Golf schedule is the 88th Annual Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur Championship, which will be help at Astoria Golf & Country Club from June 25th-June 29th.
