Oster Wins in Playoff, Huntington Tops Field at Portland City / Bob Allard Memorial

PORTLAND, Ore. - Hailey Oster won in a playoff and Owen Huntington finished three strokes ahead of the pack en route to respective open division titles at the 2017 Portland City / Bob Allard Memorial tournament played July 31-Aug. 1 at Rose City Golf Course in Portland.

Oster, from Camas, Wash., finished tied for first with McKenna Vanko (Portland, Ore.) through Tuesday’s final round. Oster recorded par on the first playoff hole to take the Girls Open Division title. Vanko, from Portland, Ore., opened the two-day competition with an 83, but rallied to shoot even par 72 in the final round, with birdies on two of the last three to force the playoff.

Huntington, from Camas, Wash., edged out Scotty Kennon and Johnny Ward for the win in the Boys Open Division. Huntington shot an opening round 74 and followed that up with a 3-under par 69 on Tuesday to finish the tournament 1-under. He fired nine birdies over the course of two rounds, including seven birdies on the final day.

Kennon and Ward finished tied for second at 2-over par. Both will compete for Team Oregon at the 49th playing of the Eddie Hogan Cup, slated for Aug. 12-13 at Riverside G&CC in Portland.

The Oregon Junior Golf major tournament schedule resumes next month with the Charlotte’s Tournament of Champions scheduled for Sept. 9 at Creekside GC in Salem.
