Oregon Junior Golfers Prepare for U.S. Junior Championships

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. and PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Three Oregon Junior Golfers will be competing in the upcoming U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior Championships, both being held July 16-21, 2018 at their respective golf courses.

Nate Stember (Portland, Ore.) and Graham Moody (Vancouver, Wash.) both qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in June. Stember, a rising senior at Lincoln High School and the reigning Class 6A Individual State Champion, recently won both the Oregon Junior Amateur and Oregon Junior Stroke Play titles; arguably the two highest-ranked Oregon Junior Golf events of the season.

Moody, a rising sophomore at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, won the Class 3A State Title as a freshman.

The 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur will be held at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.

Mary Scott Wolfe (Beaverton, Ore.), a rising junior at Jesuit High School in Portland, earned one of four qualifying spots at June’s qualifier for the 2018 U.S. Girls’ Junior. She helped the Crusaders win this year’s 6A State Championship, finishing sixth as an individual. Wolfe will also be competing in this year’s Girls Junior America’s Cup, held later this month, representing Oregon and Oregon Junior Golf.

The 2018 U.S. Girls’ Junior will be held at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.
