WOODBURN, ORE. - Michelle Torres, a senior at the Wellness, Business and Sports School (WeBSS) through Woodburn High School in Woodburn, Ore., recently became the first recipient of the Evans Scholarship to come out of the OGA Golf Course. Becoming an Evans Scholar awards Michelle with a full-ride scholarship to the University of Oregon, beginning in the fall of 2017. Final Standings Congratulations to Adam Mitchell who won the 2017 OGA Bracket Challenge with a total of 1,230 points. He was one of five participants who accurately predicted North Carolina to win the title. Mitchell, who is an OGA Member at McKay Creek Golf Course, wins a free 18-hole round for four players at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn. Thomas Hatfield (1,210 points), an OGA Member at Tualatin Country Club, finished in second place only 20 points behind the leader. Final Standings Oregon Junior Golfer Baylee Hammericksen finished seventh in the Girls 14-15 Division at the National Drive, Chip and Putt Championship held at August National Golf club in Georgia. Hammericksen, who was representing the Pacific Northwest Section, totalled 16 points in the competition which was seven points behind the division winner Savannah Greval of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. In the group stage of the PGA Tour’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Championship last Friday at Austin (Texas) Country Club, Tyrrell Hatton was competing in a three-man sudden-death playoff to determine who would advance to the Round of 16.
