Qualifiers were introduced in 2016 when the field size for the Mid-Amateur was reduced from 156 to 84 players. The 84 player feld is comprised with 63 men and 21 women. The men's field is filled with players who advance through an 18 hole qualifier. Legendary competitor Carole Jo Kabler, originally of Eugene, Ore., passed away on Thursday, March 16th due to pulmonary disease at the age of 78. Kabler had a historic amateur golf career in the Pacific Northwest. She won four Oregon Women's Amateur titles (1955, 1961-62, 1965), as well as two Oregon Junior Amateur Championships in 1954 and 1955. The latter year, Kabler also won the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship. Her victories also include the 1954 Portland Women's City Amateur Championship and the 1957 PNGA Women's Amateur Championship. WOODBURN, ORE. – After a stellar year locally, regionally and nationally, Pat O’Donnell (Happy Valley, Ore.) has been named the 2016 OGA Golfer of the Year, announced Friday by the Oregon Golf Association. FIRCREST, WASH. - The team of amateurs from the Oregon Golf Association and the Washington State Golf Association defeated the Pacific Northwest PGA Professionals in the 68th Hudson Cup, held October 20-21 at Fircrest Golf Club in Fircrest, Wash. Occuring simultaneously as the Hudson Cup, the Senior PGA Professionals earned the victory of the senior OGA and WSGA amateurs in the 25th edition of the Senior Hudson Cup. ALOHA, ORE. - The 2016 Women’s Interclub Play season came to a close last week, as the Championship took place on Wednesday, October 5th at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore.
