The Oregon Golf Association will administer three USGA qualifying competitions over the course of two days. All three events will be played at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn. The U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier is set for Monday, July 22 with 72 players competing for two spots in the U.S. Amateur Championship set for Aug. 12-18 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C. The tandem of Billy Pollock and Jack Pennington won the open division while Bradley Karns and Mark Bowler triumphed in the senior division at the 4th Oregon Amateur Four-Ball Championship played July 14-17 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell. Pollock-Pennington defeated top-seed Alec Berrey and Nick Van Vleet in Wednesday’s championship match. Brian Humphreys (Washougal, Wash.), Spencer Tibbits (Vancouver, Wash.) and Nate Stember (Portland) were selected to represent the Oregon Golf Association at the 53rd Pacific Coast Amateur Championship hosted by the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association (SCAGA). The event will be held July 23-26 at the 7,562-yard, par-72 Championship Course at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Pat O’Donnell defeated Steven Robinson 2&1 Friday morning to win the 36th Oregon Senior Amateur Championship played June 25-28 at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland. The win was O’Donnell’s sixth all time, the most for any male player in the history of the event. O’Donnell previously captured titles in 2008 and 2010, before winning three in a row from 2014-16. Spencer Tibbits, Ellie Slama and Lara Tennant were crowned champions Saturday afternoon on the final day at the Oregon Amateur Championship played at Portland Golf Club. Tibbits, from Vancouver, Wash., won his 36-hole championship match by a score of 8&6 over Daniel Snoey of Camas. The final matches for the 110th Oregon Amateur Championship were determined Friday with both men’s and women’s divisions playing quarterfinal and semifinal match play rounds. The six-day competition, which began on Monday, has been played at Portland Golf Club. Top-seed Spencer Tibbits, from Vancouver, Wash., advanced with wins over No. 57 Brent Mumford (7&6) and No. 4 Dustin Laney (3&2).
