ALOHA, Ore. – Jonathan Romano (Vancouver, Wash.) and Gretchen Johnson (Portland) won their respective divisions at the 31st Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship played May 4-5 at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha. Romano (70-67-137) shot 5-under in Sunday’s final round which included six birdies – five coming on the final nine holes. He was the clubhouse leader with a 2-under par 70 on Saturday, a round buoyed by a cluster of birdies on the back nine. Twelve OGA competitors are set to compete for Team Oregon at the 14th PNGA Cup, held May 1-2 at Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Ore. The squad representing the OGA will be attempting a repeat. Linda Bowman Segre and Leslie Folsom finished in the top two at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Sectional Qualifier played Monday, April 29 at Tualatin Country Club. The event featured 10 entrants – eight amateurs and two professionals – who competed for two spots in the national championship scheduled for May 15-19 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
