Lorain, Johnson Lead After Day One of Oregon Mid-Amateur

OREGON CITY, ORE. - Brandon Lorain (Woodburn, Ore.) and Gretchen Johnson (Portland, Ore.) lead their respective divisions after the first day of the 30th Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship, taking place this weekend at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City, Ore.

The second 18-holes of the 36-hole Championship will be held Sunday, May 6th.

Lorain leads the men's field after firing an impressive 4-under par 68 on Saturday. His round included five birdies and just one bogey, as he leads by one shot after round one. Jake Easterly (Clackamas, Ore.) is in second place at 3-under par while Chris Underwood (Damascus, Ore.) is in third at 2-under par.

Four players are tied in fourth at 1-under par: Dustin Andres (Tualatin, Ore.), Philip Bagdade (Portland, Ore.), Jack Dukeminier (Beaverton, Ore.) and Robbie Ziegler (Portland, Ore.). 

Johnson, the winner of last month's OGA Tournament of Champions, leads the women's field after a first-round 71 (-1) on Saturday. She shot 2-under on the back nine, propelling her to a one shot lead after day one. Rosie Cook (Bend, Ore.) is in second place at even-par, while Lara Tennant (Portland, Ore.) is in third at 1-over par.

Tee times for Sunday's final round will begin at 12 PM PST.
