Kennon Edges Ronne at Centennial Junior Championship

MEDFORD, ORE. - The Centennial Junior Championship, the first major of the year, was hosted at Centennial Golf Course June 10-11. The weather wasn’t quite ideal for a typically warm Medford but the players adjusted quite nicely. The Boys Open division was a tight battle with Scotty Kennon (71-64) and Craig Ronne (67-68) going to a playoff, eventually ending in a first hole birdie by medalist Kennon.

The PeeWee boys (8-9) also had a 3-way playoff between Alex Tseng (41-40) ,Lucas Vanderlip (42-39) , and Charlie Tran (38-43) with Alex pulling through with a win on the second playoff hole.  The PeeWee Girls (10-11) was also exciting with Natalie Yen coming out on top (44-40).  The Girls Open division was a tight race as well with Kiana Oshiro (72-71) just edging out Victoria Gailey (75-70).

In the 36 hole competitions, the top 10 ranked juniors are awarded points that can be accumulated throughout the summer. These points are used to determine participants for the Hogan Cup (Boys), North Pacific Jr. Ladies Team Matches (Girls) and the Junior America’s Cup (Boys & Girls.
