CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge took place June 20-21 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
Day 1 started off on an ideal summer day with a slight breeze. Juniors from every division seemed to score well with several rounds close to par. The leader from the Boys Open division was Craig Ronne (Klamath Falls, Ore.) firing 67 (-4) after shooting a blistering 30 (-5) on the front side with Isaac Buerger (Redmond, Ore.) close behind shooting 68 (-3).
The Girls Open division was lead by Ellie Slama (Salem, Ore.) shooting an even par 71, with Jessica Ponce (Beaverton, Ore.) and Victoria Gailey (Tigard, Ore.) close behind with a pair of 74s. Boys 14-15 division was lead by Nicholas Watts (Springfield, Ore.) shooting 77, while the Intermediate Girls were led by Elise Deschaine (Portland, Ore.) who shot 77 and 80 for a total of 157.

On Day two the Pee Wee Boys and Girls were the first ones to complete their rounds, with Alexander Hagan (Eugene, Ore.) finishing with an impressive two-round total of 73, winning the boys division, and Jacinda Lee (Camas, Wa.) firing a 75 to win the girls.
Taking medalist honors for the Boys Open division was Ronne finishing up with 67-67 (134). The three boys qualifying for the IMG Junior World Championship were Spencer Tibbits (Vancouver, Wa.) shooting 69-69, Austin Carnese (Portland, Ore.) firing 68-71 and Buerger posting 69-74 who won in a playoff against Samuel Pyon (Happy Valley, Ore.) who shot 71-71. Craig Ronne was already except from qualifying based on his 2016 finish.
The Girls Open division was lead by Slama (71-75) for a total of 146, winning in a playoff against Gailey (74-72). The three girls qualifying for the IMG Junior World Championship were Gailey, Ponce and Kaylee Wu. Slama, who won the playoff, was already exempt from qualifying based on her score from 2016.
