Four-Time Oregon Women's Amateur Champion Kabler Passes

Legendary competitor Carole Jo Kabler, originally of Eugene, Ore., passed away on Thursday, March 16th due to pulmonary disease at the age of 78.

Kabler had a historic amateur golf career in the Pacific Northwest. She won four Oregon Women's Amateur titles (1955, 1961-62, 1965), as well as two Oregon Junior Amateur Championships in 1954 and 1955. The latter year, Kabler also won the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship. Her victories also include the 1954 Portland Women's City Amateur Championship and the 1957 PNGA Women's Amateur Championship.

After her amateur wins, Kabler turned professional. Kabler had a productive and successful LPGA career, winning four events between 1973-74.

Kabler was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame in 2009.
