Final Matches Set at Oregon Senior Men's Amateur Championship

WOODBURN, Ore. ­­ The championship matches are set for Friday’s final day at the 34th Oregon Senior Amateur Championship held at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore.

The final in the championship flight will feature Bob Harrington (Portland, Ore.) and Tim O’Neal (Vancouver, Wash.). That match will begin at 8:45am on Friday.

Harrington, the top seed in the match-play bracket, opened the day by defeating Brad Karns (Vancouver, Wash.) 4&3 in the quarterfinals. Harrington followed that up by topping Tom Zupan (Portland, Ore.), 3&2, in the semifinal round.

O’Neal, the No. 6 seed after Tuesday’s stroke-play qualifying, registered a major upset in the semifinal, defeating three-time defending champion Pat O’Donnell in a playoff. All square through 18 holes, O’Neal registered par while O’Donnell bogeyed the final hole. Prior to the semifinal victory, O’Neal defeated Michael Senatra (Happy Valley, Ore.), 3&1, in the quarterfinal round.

In Flight I, Mike Gustafson (Eugene, Ore.) will face off against Dan Odiorne (Bend, Ore.). Steve Belt (McMinnville, Ore.) will take on Thomas Yates (Happy Valley, Ore.) in the Flight II final match. Those matches will begin at 8:15am and 8:30am respectively.
