Feyrer and Conyers Medal; 27 Advance At 2018 Oregon Amateur Qualifier #1
BANKS, Ore. - Ryan Feyrer (Lacey, Wash.) and William Conyers (Portland, Ore.) led 27 total players who advanced to the 2018 Oregon Amateur Championship after the first qualifier was held Saturday, June 2nd at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Ore.
Feyrer, who recently completed his senior season at Capital High School in Olympia, Wash. with a second place finish at the Washington Class 3A State Golf Championship, fired a 3-under 33 on the front nine to pace himself to a 1-under par 71. He shared medalist honors with Conyers, who plays his college golf at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. Conyers birdied the final two holes to tie Feyrer at the top of the leaderboard.
Mark Bowler (Portland, Ore.), who's an active OGA competitor, finished in thid place after shooting an even-par round of 72. Four players tied for fourth at 1-over par: David Gomes (Delta, B.C.), Whitworth College's Reilly Hegarty (Pendleton, Ore.), Mike Hoopes (Beaverton, Ore.), and Chico State's Kevin Orr (Portland, Ore.). Six-over par ended up being the cut line.
The next Oregon Amateur qualifier will take place Tuesday, June 5th at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City, Ore.
The 27 players who advanced Saturday will all compete in the 109th Oregon Amateur Championship, taking place June 18-23, 2018 at Bend Golf Club in Bend, Ore.
