Buerger & Venderby Prevail in Tight Finish at Rogue Valley CC

MEDFORD, Ore. – The Boys Open Division at the Southern Oregon Jr. finished in dramatic fashion as three golfers tied for first place at Rogue Valley Country Club and entered a sudden death playoff.

Owen Huntington (Camas, WA), Austin Carnese (Portland, Ore.), and Isaac Buerger (Redmond, Ore.) all finished with 36-hole totals of 1-over 145.  It took three playoff holes for Buerger to finally prevail over Huntington & Carnese.

Following a first round score of 4-under 68, first round leader William Fleck (Bend, Ore.) took a few steps back firing a 7-over 79 to finish in fifth place.

The Girls Open Division was also a nail-biter with five golfers finishing within a shot of first place.  When the dust settled, Olivia Venderby (West Linn, Ore.) claimed medalist honors with a 75-77—152 (+8).  Finishing in a tie for second place at 9-over 153 was Baylee Hammericksen (Medford, OR), Alexa Udom (Portland, Ore.), Elli Gordon (Dallas, Ore.), and Kaylee Wu (Medford, Ore.).
