2019 OGA Championship Schedule Announced; Registration Opens Feb. 22
The Oregon Golf Association recently announced its amateur championship schedule. The 2019 calendar features both single- and multi-day competitions, to go with a diverse mix of team, best-ball, net, stroke- and match-play formats.
The marquee event is June 17-22 with the 110th playing of the Oregon Amateur Championship. This year’s six-day competition is at Portland Golf Club, the 12th time that esteemed private facility will be hosting the state’s top amateur championship. The men’s, women’s and senior women’s championship will be played at the same time during that week.
Three qualifiers have been scheduled for the men’s division, with all three occurring in early June and set to be played at the OGA Golf Course (June 1), Stone Creek Golf Club (June 4) and Tokatee Golf Club (June 8).
The last time the Oregon Amateur Championship was played at Portland GC was 2006 when Mitch Gillis and Tracy Broders earned titles. Last year, at Bend Golf Club, Robbie Ziegler, Ellie Slama and Lara Tennant were crowned state champions.
The 36th Oregon Senior Men’s Amateur Championship will be played June 25-28 at Rock Creek Country Club, set 12 miles west of downtown Portland. Randy Mahar is the defending champion.
The 31st Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship will be played May 4-5 at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club. There are two qualifying opportunities scheduled for the men in 2019 – April 23 and April 28 – both played at OGA Golf Course.
The 67th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship is heading to Central Oregon Aug. 2-4 at Eagle Crest Resort’s Ridge Course. A year ago at Arrowhead Golf Club, Kyosuke Hara, Pat O’Donnell and Brandon Lorain claimed titles in their respective divisions.
Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville will be the site of the 29th Oregon Women’s Stroke Play which is scheduled for June 11-12. Slama and Anita Wicks took home titles at the 2018 event played at Broken Top Club in Bend. The 14th Oregon Super Senior Championship will simultaneously occur at Michelbook CC on those dates.
The year’s first event, the 75th playing of the OGA Tournament of Champions, will be held April 13-14 at Gearhart Golf Links. O’Donnell, Blake Seabaugh and Gretchen Johnson earned titles at last year’s OGA Tournament of Champions.
